Custom Textiles
While I am known for my 'Art to Lean On' cushions, I also make other works. Hand painted silk scarves, collaged and printed compositions, wall hangings, combining various techniques - dyeing, sewing, printing and assembling. - modern day tribal cloths referencing nature and culture. 2 or 3 metre lengths of repeat patterned fabric can be whatever you want it to be - wall hanging or one of a kind clothing
Methods
Printmaking is the major focus of my work,
particularly block printing. I am attracted to it's
directness, low tech old fashioned simplicity.
Dyeing enables me to experiment with a range
of beautiful custom colors. Cutting and sewing
adds a whole world of possibilities. Screen
printing also offers the chance of using photographic images. I experiment with overlays of color and pattern to build depth and visual interest.
